Legislative Committee Hearing on 5-year Moratorium

The ALC- Rules and Regulations Committee of the Arkansas Legislature will hold a hearing on Wednesday, August 19. On the agenda is discussion of the proposed rule change to impose a 5-year moratorium on any new permits, or expansion of existing ones, in the Buffalo River watershed for medium and large swine CAFOs. This is the final step in the legislative review process before it is sent to the APC&E Commission for a final vote and implementation, likely on Friday, August 28.
